Undertow (2004)

It achieves it’s “if Mallick remade Night of the Hunter” goal perfectly (even if there’s no performances here that come close to Robert Mitchum’s in that film) but what struck me the most was the central irony of the kids actually being better off homeless and on the run than living in poverty. B
